Tips from people already working in a Writer's Room

Hi, all. My name is Janelle, aka Peaches. For those working in a writer's room: would you share tips on how to get into a writer's room, please? No disrespect but no Debbie/Dan downers, please. Meaning please don't say how hard and difficult and how many decades it can take. We all know it's a process but miracles can happen. But, when you were ready, what did you do? How did you do it? Any advice for those who are still working on our stuff but would like a glimmer of sunshine at the end of the tunnel? Thanks!!!

Get yourself on a working set/project - I started as a 'gofer' on True Grit ack in the mid '60s (we didn't have 'PAs' in those days. I was a shooter on the Ski Free sets - no one else was dumb enough to run the Down Hill course while shooting a 16mm Bolex. Basically, get to know people. I spent time in the Writer's Room on the MTM series, the Airwolf series. I was never 'ready', it just all happened because I was just standing around in the right/wrong place. The people that I had built relationships with were willing to give me a shot - mainly cuz I was there. It's a people oriented business.
