Introduce Yourself : The Sitch by Leo Johnson

Leo Johnson

The Sitch

I'm jumping into this as a chance to improve my writing, as I have multiple rough drafts that have gone without eyes for a long time!

Maurice Vaughan

Welcome, Leo. What genres do you write?

Leo Johnson

Recently I've written 2 TV pilots that are horror/sci-fi mixes. I've also written comedic stage plays

You can post your scripts and stageplays on your page (along with a logline and synopsis for each). People can rate your loglines and read your scripts/stageplays. Posting your projects is a way to get directors, producers, production companies, etc. interested in them.

Karen "Kay" Ross

That is a fantastic reason to jump in and get involved on Stage 32 for sure! Have you listed your scripts' loglines on your profile already? That would be a great way to get some feedback on your scripts before sending them out for more extensive notes: https://www.stage32.com/loglines

I would recommend leaving comments on others' loglines as well, so you can invite them to exchange afterward.

You can also reach out through the Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting) for advice, share reflections, or even offer a script exchange where you give notes to receive peer feedback. It's a great compliment to receiving coverage from an industry reader (https://www.stage32.com/scriptservices/coverage/buy?id=23) so you can process notes from multiple sources at the same time. You can even have an executive of your choosing read your scripts and give you feedback: https://www.stage32.com/scriptservices/coverage/buy?id=28

Wait, back up - you do Aikido and like Shakespeare?! It's like you're my brother from another mother! LOL

Leo Johnson

Haha "Kay" do you train? If so, that's hilarious. Also, regarding a synopsis for a script, I've heard people say to keep it to a paragraph, others say a page, others say multiple pages. For a TV pilot, what would you think is appropriate?

Erik Meyers

welome! and much success!!

Maurice Vaughan

Leo, I try to keep my full synopsis to a page or a page and a half. Sometimes I also write a short synopsis that's about a paragraph.

Posted my first script. Check it out!
