Animation : Helluva Boss by Terrence Sellers

Helluva Boss

This week I watched an animated series called Helluva Boss. It's a couple years old and all released on YouTube with a single season of 8 episodes. What I found truly impressive was the quality. The cast, which contained multiple voice actors I've been aware of for years, was excellent. It was also a very competently produced series with great animation, funny dialog, and solid enough writing. But I wonder how a project like this gets made. It very clearly wasn't cheap to produce but was released for free on YouTube. And the content is very adult, so it's no surprise that it wouldn't have gotten picked up by a network. You couldn't really air it in most places. Meaning it basically has to get picked up by a streamer or release free on YouTube. Clearly the latter is what occurred. But I assume producers would know that going in. So unless everyone is working for free out of love, the business of creating something like this seems super impractical. I do encourage you to check out the series if you enjoy adult animation, but as I've said, it's very adult and quite vulgar.

Harry Loeffler-Bell

I first saw their channel when they posted the pilot for Hazbin Hotel. Some very excellent animation, and overall production for a purely youtube group. I think the artist really clicked with some online communities, as it's easy to trip over fan art of their characters.
