So to be super honest my frustration levels were at an all time high, for legit reasons and probably that blood moon. Then this morning and to top it all off on a Monday morning, I found out that a little flash fiction sci fi story that I wrote and was published in the anthology 81 Words won the award for the best anthology of 2022 in the UK. Then shortly after that, I got the news that my little short I submitted in the Writer Duet 48 hour screenplay throwdown made it to the quarter finals. Add to that, a week ago I found out that my fantasy feature made it to the quarter finals. So I'm not ready to die anymore.
Tell me you don't know that feeling. If you don't, well then, we haven't had the same experience in this writing journey but one thing's for sure, I know I'm not alone. Not at all.
I am still at it after all these years but seems maybe, just maybe, something is going to go through, this time. he he he Cheers everyone! It's what I'm doing today.

WL Wright, no, I've never had that feeling. I've always, from the day I decided to write my first story (in 8th grade), been focused on the journey, not the destination.
Would I love to make a career from writing? Absolutely, and I work every day (for the last 23 years) at trying to make that a reality.
But I never lose sight of the fact that it's the WRITING of a story that drives me, not the ACCEPTANCE of a story by anyone.
It does make me cherish the people who get my writing, but my self-worth as a writer isn't defined by anyone's opinion of that writing.
Just my perspective.

Hey John, well your determination is admirable no one can deny that. The things that just happened literally made me feel like a real writer for the first time. I was on the fence about that up to now and up until those things happened. It's a really great feeling. In fact, that feeling can bring any writer back from the dead i imagine. he he he The road to nowhere isn't the road I want to be on however and that's just how it is.

Where is the money/income?
Hi Dan, I hear there some really nice street down the road from your place. Maybe you can go take a shit in that as well.
Craig, you okay? Go make another video/blog of an industry you dont know anything about. Peace

Someone shares their success and you immediately ask about money. Here is an exercise, see if you can find a problem with this sentence “well done WL”.
My blog, youtube channel, books (you forgot to mention my books on amazon) and screenplays are all doing fine. Thanks for asking.

Just got fresh from receiving a best script prize in my hometown, and the organizer said right there on the stage, the city authorities did not cut enough large check for money prizes to be involved, so there's your answer Dan...Not sayin it's always like this, but most these contest are recognition only...however I do advise you to pay attention on those where u PAY and no money prize is involved, organizations and sponsors are completely off grid...

I took Dan's comment an entirely different way. I thought it was funny. For some, it's like if you want to be paid for your writing it's immoral somehow. Sorry, not for me, I do it to change my life and yes $ is involved in that hope for change. I don't feel bad about that and I've been paid and it feels excellent indeed and yes I want more of that, a full time experience of it in fact. Cheers all! Don't hate!

Thanks Dan and thanks all. You are all appreciated and always have been, even when irate. We are writers after all and human. But we all share an experience that the vast majority will never know, because most are one and done. It's indeed special and one I never thought I'd be part of even though I always enjoyed it more than most. Whenever you think you know what's going to happen BAM nope, you're wrong. he he he it's our life.
