Robert Eggers is a screenwriter/director who has made several very atmospheric, original films that he wrote and directed. I saw The Witch a few years ago, and I was blown away by this film's unsettling tone and authentic period piece quality. I download both The Witch and The Lighthouse. Though the narrative writing is occasionally too dense for my tastes, I have enormous respect for his gift and his commitment to insisting he is the only director who can bring his stories to the screen.
I highly recommend watching his short interview and downloading his ten tips for screenwriting and directing. Though a few may seem obvious, he offers what I consider amazing insights.

TIP #1: Embrace what is uniquely you.
It is not worth writing or directing something that doesn't feel like it's of you. The way to get recognized and transcend the slog is just to be authentically you. People try to write for the moment or write what they think is popular, but in essence, you're selling yourself short. What you like and what you believe is the most valuable.
I took the ten minutes and so glad I did. Thanks for sharing Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique Yeah heard a few before, and use a few of these myself, but man, great tips indeed
Lee: This guy is a huge talent with a terrific cinematic eye. Thanks for posting. And his tips are pretty damn good.
