Hey, Stage 32ers! We had a great conversation about short films that end with a "call to action" that were labeled "edu-tainment", but there is a concern that it could skew to "propaganda". What would YOU do to steer clear of propaganda?
I think once you create what you believe to hold value, and it reflects your innermost beliefs, that's the best you can do.
Propaganda is something external. Truth comes from within. And as long as the piece of art we create is first and foremost that: a piece of art... then it has its purpose.
If there is a message in your work that someone does not like, then it can conceivably be open to being labelled as propaganda. How important is the message to you that stirs opposition? What are the standards or a criteria you will never breach? It never ends so settling these answers once and for all is good. :)
Any call to action should be after showing propaganda for what it is, and the action should be to go against the propaganda. :-)

I'm not a Preacher or a Teacher - I'm an entertainer. I keep to the center of the road in a light and fun lane.

would it be fair to say art expresses a truth as a motive; and propaganda, a motive as a truth?
