I'm a screenwriter who has written 4 scripts so far. Comedy, action and horror. Love to see what everyone else is doing. With my scripts, like many, they move forward, stall out, move forward, stall out, etc. Have directors very interested, but need the producer who has the connections to the practical matters.
When you denote moving forward and stalling out, are you referring to the ebbs and flows of the script's story or are you referring to the upheavals of Producers deliberating optioning your story?
At times, and on separate tracks, both, but mainly referring to producers.
