Hi from the East Coast! I'm an aspiring TV writer. I've be aspiring for years and I finally feel like I'm ready to take the next steps. I've got my pitch deck done and my pilot script done. I'm working on episode #2 and #3 for my TV comedy/drama, Best Kid Ever. It's been a labor of love.
I'd love to use my skills and experience as a science and technology educator (35 years in the classroom) to consult on science and technology content in TV show scripts. I've only found a program for scientists called the Scientists & Entertainment Exchange through the National Academy of Sciences.
Would anyone have any suggestions or guidance to pursue this?
Eric Walters
I'm not familiar with your genre but sounds like you have lots to offer. Good luck with your tv show and consulting plans. Sounds like your expertise could be very beneficial to the right folks. Welcome!
Hi Eric Walters! Love your goals and passion! I def think the bigger your portfolio, and the more you get it "out there" to be people, the better a writer's chances. Do you have any ideas for a new pilot that touches on those science and technology themes that you can add to your portfolio next? Or have you thought about applying to the TV fellowships this year?
Thanks for the jolt of enthusiasm! I like the idea building a pilot around science and tech themes - as opposed my standard lonely dude and teenage son theme! I will definitely look into some TV fellowships!
