Introduce Yourself : President/CEO/Producer Shake The Tree Productions by Toni D'Antonio

Toni D'Antonio

President/CEO/Producer Shake The Tree Productions

Hello Stage 32 Community. Introduction Saturday… here we go…

Toni D with Shake The Tree here. I am a full time actor/writer/producer with my own production company and 30+ years in the business. Originally from RI… then Brooklyn NY for almost 27 years and now Norwalk CT where I live with my hubby of 33 years and our new chow rescue pup, Obi Wan Kenobi. I just started doing Vinyasa yoga a couple of years ago and ADORE the practice. I’ve even created my own yoga room/inspiration space in my home for meditation and yoga.

I produce feature films and scripted and unscripted series and am always looking for inspiration in every day life for story telling, identifiable flawed and authentic characters and real life experiences that make a difference in our communities.

My side hustle is always entertainment related … helping people with script consulting, marketing, film packaging, business plans, etc… I do ALOT of consulting. And I LOVE it!!!

I belong to New York Women in Film and Television, support the Alzheimer’s Foundation and SOSA, donate and volunteer when I can and support diversity and equality every chance I get.

I am curious how to build my network, promote my business efficiently and begin collaborating with folks in the Stage 32 community without being too self serving and pushy. So any guidance and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Here’s my websites so you can learn even more about me and what I do.

Welcome to the community Toni, glad to have you! I’d recommend using your expertise to give advice in the lounges. To keep our lounges on topic, we don’t allow self-promotion in most lounges but we do have a wonderful “anything goes”lounge where you can promote so make sure to post in there. I’d say the most successful members in our community are present, selfless, give back in the community and inevitably other members are drawn to them to want to work together. Looking forward to your contributions!

Nice to "meet" you, Toni. Glad to have you with us from one dog lover to another.

Toni D'Antonio

Thank for the welcome guys. I'll try to learn to navigate the lounges in the coming weeks. Here's to a successful Stage 32 experience. LOVE the pitch sessions already!

Toni D'Antonio Shake the tree and see what falls out (great movies and great shows). :)

Toni D'Antonio Honored to meet you Toni. Love your work and your support of the Alzheimer's cause. My father passed away from that dreaded disease so I'm grateful for your support of awareness of it. I'm a screenwriter who writes YA fantasy as well as kids steampunk and scifi so if you ever need anything from me, please reach out. Have a wonderful weekend! You will LOVE it here. I do. Everyone is SO supportive!

Toni D'Antonio

Thanks for the lovely welcome Leonardo. So sorry about your pops. My mom and mother in law both passed way from Alzheimers so I am a HUGE supporter of the organization. One of my scripts is about an amalgam of characters and scenarios from my real life regarding the death of a parent and the search for meaning in the lives of the surviving daughters. It's a script that is circulating the festival circuit now and we've been pretty blessed by the accolades. Telling this story is so important to me. Fingers crossed we find the right partners to make it happen. Again... thanks for the warm welcome. Glad to be a part of this community.

Leonardo Ramirez

Toni D'Antonio You are very welcome. And given the emotional depth, it's a brave script to write. Blessings on all that you put your hand to and may doors open up.

Ramsey Anderson

Thnx for sharing Toni. Great stuff.

FYI, when I clicked on the two website links they both shared a warning about certificate issues. If you don’t see the problem have somebody click it for you. Just wanted to share so you don’t run into the problem later.

Have a great weekend.

Safari on mobile.

My condolences to you and your family, Toni D'Antonio.

Congratulations on the accolades! Your script sounds interesting, and it's definitely important.

Kevin Trainor

Good luck Brooklyn, from Kevin, formerly of The Bronx and now in LA.

Toni D'Antonio

Thanks Ramsey. I'm not even sure what that means. Can you explain?

Bruce Chapnick

Hi Toni I’m originally from Westport and lived in Pelham for several years while commuting to New School for Film school. Now I live in LA and OC. We should discuss our projects.

Toni D'Antonio

I'd love that Bruce. Thanks for reaching out. You can reach me here tonidantonio@gmail.com

Toni D'Antonio

Funny about Pelham Bruce... I also participate in The Picture House's filmmaking camps for their Pelham and Bronxville locations. A way to give back to the next gen kids of content creation.

L. Tom Deaver

Toni, I ran into the same problem trying to go to your links - said it was not secure. Correct me if I'm wrong, but when Ramsey was saying the security certificates were not working making the sites a risk to hackers, etc. Someone else may explain it better than I.

So much great advice in this thread already, so I'll just add that all great relationships begin with selflessness and giving. Share your knowledge, help others on their journey, and participate where you can. This is the most friendly and welcoming community on the planet. You'll have your circle here before you know it.

Toni D'Antonio

Gotcha... Thanks for that info... Have a mtg w my IT guy today. Will figure that out. :)

And thanks for the welcome Richard. Looking forward to all that awaits in the building of relationships here.

Richard "RB" Botto

So very welcome, Toni.

Maurice Vaughan

Toni D'Antonio I agree with RB. Here's an incredible blog about that (www.stage32.com/blog/how-to-network-without-using-people-3277). Just came out. :)

Richard "RB" Botto

That is a fantastic blog, Maurice.

Maurice Vaughan

It really is, RB. It's always great for creatives and industry pros to do a check of themselves, making sure they aren't using people while networking.

Toni D'Antonio

Thanks guys. So appreciate insight when it comes to self promotion and drumming up business. Great blog. There's always a fine line on platforms that's so different from pitching at markets like AFM or EFM. This past November we had our very first suite and were exhibitors at AFM and our vibe was even different from when we were just attendees these past 7 years. We were able to command such a different, more confident presence knowing people were coming to our suite to actively pursue us and our content. And then attending EFM virtually for the first year this year was interesting and brought forth a whole new set of challenges. But seeking out equity partners, Executive Producers and Co-Pros on platforms like these... well... I am still learning to navigate properly as to not be too pushy or needy/greedy AND while still understanding that giving knowledge and advice and expertise and putting that out into this world of content creators is just as important as trying to obtain what you need as well. So, thanks for all the input. I'm truly grateful for any and all opportunities to grow.
