I have to say that YouTube Shorts have been great for bringing eyeballs into my channel. While it's nowhere near huge, by any stretch, since I began posting regular Shorts about a month ago, I noticed both my subscribers and views have increased, collectively. The analytics are night and day from where they were this time last year.
Regardless of the other similar platforms, like Twitch, because it's Google, YouTube isn't going anywhere any time soon. Other platforms come and go. Finding ways to use it to our advantage helps grow our messaging and content. However, we are all works in progress in the digital space. Still, if you don't have another option yet, sometimes you can grow your community here and have a solid base of support for when you're ready to release that special creation.
It's not easy to monetize until you reach the minimum followers or views -- that takes a TON of hard work unless your name is Eminem. But YouTube is working at improving its monetization tools, especially for game developers and gamers and by using Shorts. Here's the announcement:

Very interesting, Debbie. Thanks for sharing! Curious if the increase in views has been organic (in your opinion) or if you've been doing anything different to drive people toward your page?

YouTube's new integration tools will be very useful too! Interested to see which platforms they center partnerships with, as those will be the ones to follow. Thanks for sharing Debbie!

I hope paying content creators more in that plan.
Richard "RB" Botto Organic. All I have been doing is posting more shorts. I suppose if one of my show guests rises to the level of A-lister that might pump it up. It's interesting that the videos you think will get the hits, don't; and the ones you think won't get the hits, do. I post a lot of content. TikTok video shorts are the easiest to create, which save on my phone automatically, and I can post them to YouTube, Instagram, etc. I also started posting Short movie reviews, which people seem to like. This one for Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte got 1000 views overnight, as did Flowers of War. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/By-tmYMGunE

Thanks for sharing, Debbie. It’s a fascinating time for content creators of all types and YouTube definitely remains the best in show and biggest search engine around. Excited to see where it all goes from here.
Thanks Sam Sokolow. I kind of saw this as the future back in 2012 when I entered the livestream space and was using digital media as a networking tool. Local business people looked at me like I had three heads when I lauded the benefits of the Internet -- which is why I love Stage 32 so much. It was on that path of non-tradition and forward-thinking back then. It's just taken the rest of the mediums to start figuring it out, outside the gaming world. It's still a work in progress, and like all things digital, will continue to be for eternity. :)

@Nick No. I only use Vimeo to watch a video link someone else has posted. I believe I have an account I probably set up back in 2012, but never used it. YouTube is my jam for housing videos, besides Google Photos, and my portable hard drive. I am allergic to Apple products. Blah!
