This should be a crowd pleaser which is needed with declining audiences. The runaway favourite, Everything Everywhere All at Once is certain to win, not only Best Picture but could win in most of the acting categories as well as best director. It will be the first sci-fi film and the first Asian American film to do so, it is also a financial success. It has something of a cult following too.

Jimmy Kimmel will host at the Dolby Theatre. Fans will be pleased Top Gun: Maverick and Avatar: Way of Water are in the Best Picture list. Controversy has surrounded the all white Best Actress and all male Best Director nominees, especially with Angela Riseborough for To Leslie being nominated over Danielle Deadwyler for Till. Angela Bassett is the first to receive a nomination for a Marvel film.
