Screenwriting : What next? by Connor Griffiths

Connor Griffiths

What next?

So I have wrote my screenplay, had the first 10 pages read and feedback given. I also had a pitch session with a studio exec. I've gone through it again and again.

I was wondering what would be next? Or what do you think would be the best step to take next?

Dan MaxXx

I'd do a final pass and proofed by an editor, then submit to contests & fellowships, give to peers to read for fun (not stressing readers), and write something else.

Unless you can self-produce, convince peers you can actually make a movie.

Maurice Vaughan

What Dan MaxXx said. And continue building relationships/networking to get your script in the right hands. You can do that many places, including the Lounges on here (www.stage32.com/lounge), the Browse Members Section (www.stage32.com/people), and the Open Writing Assignments in the Writers' Room (https://stage32.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/8183283651732-What-is-an-O...).

Next step is raise the capital. Every producer has scripts. Very few have the money.

Bill Albert

Keep pitching and keep pushing your voice. It's a long road but you have what you need so keep going.

Arthur Charpentier

the next step is to write a new script

hey Connor Griffiths! Congrats on all the progress you've made so far! I would get feedback on the full script, and then get that next script ready! you need a whole portfolio typically for reps, but you can also do what Dan suggests and produce it yourself. If you shoot me an email at success@stage32.com, I can make some good recommendations for you!

Nick Waters

I'd recommend making a visually strong pitch deck to use in pitch meetings. Include great comps, possible financial returns, tone, themes.

Ultimately, getting reorientation is always a smart move to start working professionally. Here is a terrific Stage 32 class taught by manager Audrey Knox that I recommend that can help you organize a plan to approach reps with your work: https://www.stage32.com/classes/Stage-32-Screenwriting-Class-How-to-Bett...
