Hi People!!

I live in the Bay Area and have been writing since 2001. I’ve completed three feature scripts and thinking about a fourth. Comedy is my genre of choice. I’ve really enjoyed the Thursday pitch sessions with Brooklyn and John, they are both so generous with their feedback and are just all around awesome people! I’ve been thinking about what it would be like to have a writing partner? If you have had the same thought, let me know.

Hey, Michael Scott. I've been to the Pitch Practices twice. I've just sat in and listened, but I plan to pitch.

Hi Michael Scott! So glad that you're here. I love writing comedy too. Most of the people I know who have writing partners met them as friends or giving feedback and then working on projects together just developed organically over time. If you want to write in TV it's a bit tricky because you do have to split your staffing fee because you're "splitting the work" even though you're both in the office the full amount of time. But other writers don't have a full-time writing partner it just depends. I bet you're meeting a lot of great potential writers in the Writers' Room at things like Pitch Practice. Any cool projects you're working on now?

Hi Michael! I second Emily in that writing partners tend to develop their working relationship over time, but there's so many great writers to meet in our community that you just might find someone who is the right fit as a partner.

Thanks for the tips. I think maybe the next step for me is getting into a group or class. I got feedback on the pitch of my "comedy" script and I need the get the idea across AND the funny across in 5 minutes. So I got the 5 minute part down and the idea part down, but trying to express what I think is funny on the page to being funny in the voice is challenging me. But I am definitely up for it. I may have to do some re-writing.
