WGA members voted 97.85% in favor of authorizing a strike if their leaders can’t reach a fair deal at the bargaining table. With the May 1st expiration quickly approaching, how is everyone feeling about the potential strike?

Thanks, Ashley Renee Smith. Hope they reach a deal before May 1st. Mainly for the writers, their families, and audiences.

Ashley Renee Smith well, from my perspective, I’m just about to become a member of the WGGB, that has said it will come out in solidarity with the WGA. It will be the first time that my writing will have an imposed embargo. Have any Stage32ers experienced a WGA strike before and had to stop writing?

Geoff Hall, I'm also curious what the experience has been like for members who've experienced past strikes. Thank you for asking!

Is Stage 32 going to cease doing writer pitches if there is a strike? I understand that Roadmap is halting pitches in solidarity with the WGA.
And Geoff Hall you don't have to stop writing ... you can work on your own specs, just don't pitch them! hahaha, so use the time to fill up your arsenal!
Remember, this affects non-union folks too. You don't want to do something scab-like that will get you blacklisted before you've even had a chance to be a member of the WGA. Also the deals the union makes on behalf of its writers sets the standards for all writers! So lets hope they get a good deal!
