Screenwriting : What are the writers watching? by Ben Johnson Jr.

What are the writers watching?

I was wondering what other screenwriters and creatives are watching. What are some of your top, go-to shows for inspiration? Mine are:

Game Of Thrones

Penny Dreadful

Stranger Things

Westworld

Vikings

The Boys

One Punch Man

Ty Strange

Great question, Ben Johnson Jr.! In no particular order mine are...

Ted Lasso

Big Bang Theory

Community

Kim's Convenience

Trent

Elementary

Burn Notice

Ty Strange this tells me so much about you lol. Great shows.

Craig D Griffiths

Catching up on LOVE/HATE getting my head in BBC space.

Maurice Vaughan

I've mainly been watching indie short films lately, Ben Johnson Jr.

Kiril Maksimoski

Nothing atm...gonna read friend's script through, it's his virgin feature and he asked for some notes...

John C. Bounds

Features and short films. I watch everything even if it isn't that good just to learn. I watched Lake Pacid 2 yesterday and...I laughed even though it wasn't a comedy.

Leonardo Ramirez

Ben Johnson Jr. My daughter is home from college and as such, she wants dad watching what she wants to watch which is good for me because it pushes me to watch things, I wouldn't normally. So this week it's "Everybody Hates Chris". The title puts me off because I don't care for anything that on the surface sounds like hating a kid is funny. But lo and behold, the show IS funny and reminds me of growing up in the Bronx.

Richard Wilkinson

Your list. But add "Severance" ;)

Ty Strange

Oh, and Slow Horses!

Ben Johnson Jr.

Two recommendations for SLOW HORSES. I've not watched it yet, but it's definitely on my list now. Just watched the trailer. Looks absolutely brilliant.

Any recommends Maurice Vaughan ?

Ben Johnson Jr.

John C. Bounds I love "bad " movies. They're tons of fun and there's loads you can learn from them.

Ben Johnson Jr.

Leonardo, so important as writers to keep up with what audiences like, even if it's not to our taste.

Damages was masterfully done.

Person of Interest, Burn Notice, Law & Order, Criminal Intent, The Closer, Justified, Ozark, Better Call Saul, (Lucky Hank is a snooze fest). Damages. The Usual Suspects, LA Confidential (should have won Best Picture in 97 instead of the bloated Titanic), No Country for Old Men, The Magnificent 7.
