More chiaroscuro nuggets....

Just discovered this on Youtube: A Wig for Miss DeVore, from 'Thriller' series, presented by Boris Karloff. This particular episode really appealed: lighting, composition, and the use of mirrors .... made for TV, with the high production values of a feature length movie. What's your favourite shot from a B/W series/movie ?

tried adding several photos in one group, doesn't seem to be working...

Here you go. From ‘Ivan’s Childhood’:

@Geoff @Julia Those worm eye shots (one’s of people looking down) really have a sinister edge, makes me feel claustrophobic, hunted & captured. I think one of the best examples of a mirror scene in vintage noir is the 1947 fun house scene in Lady from Shanghai. (Rita Hayworth & Orson Welles if I remember correctly.) In vintage films they also silhouette or black out characters to create suspense/mystery which you rarely see in films now. (Maybe they are not seen properly, or not seen at all but been a long time since I saw a blackout.)

They are super effective, aren;t they, and watching these is like a workshop on what lighting and camera angling can do. I have got quite addicted to the series meanwhile - The Hungry Glass has some cool shots/effects as well.
