We just got some AMAZING feedback on Stage 32 Script Consultations with Shaun O'Banion from Mary Santarelli that I just have to share with you all --
I recently worked with Shaun on a Stage 32 script evaluation/rewrite session and felt compelled to pass along my highest regards for this collaborative experience. I've worked with a number of script consultants over the years, but Shaun rose to the top of my roster. He was so well-prepared and intimately familiar with the details of my screenplay, which allowed us to hit the ground running on rewrite notes. In addition, he provided perspectives not only as a seasoned writer, but as a producer as well. The rewrite process can be overwhelming, but Shaun is so measured in his approach, and together, we achieved a tangible roadmap to shape the script into the best version of itself. He also pointed out the scenes and aspects of the story that worked well. My time spent with Shaun was an invaluable investment in my story, and I firmly believe he has helped me make it more marketable. I will most definitely seek out his consultation in the future! Thank you to Stage 32 for facilitating opportunities that allow us to grow as screenwriters and launch our projects.

Thanks for sharing! I got great feedback on a short film script a short while ago and my experiences were largely the same! Really helped elevate the script to something awesome!

Chris is not that far off. While no one has punched me in the teeth, on more than one occasion I've had consults with those who obviously didn't read the entire script. During a recent consult, I felt I was talking to a person who was bored and constantly looking at his watch. No one's perfect and neither is any human system.

That is so awesome. I had a similar experience with Clayton Conroy and it means so much when the executive genuinely wants to see you succeed and "gets you"! So happy to see this. Thanks for posting Emily J .

Emily - Thanks so much for the recommendation. I am trying to find the right person to read my script. Question: I have a few scripts that are "sort of done"...they are short and I know that they need extensive work. Do you think I should reach out for a consultation or wait until they are as done as I can get them? I really need someone to drag me over the finish line! I have a short attention span and tend to write a script to 78% done and then see something shiny and move on to another idea.

Leaving the drama aside...
This is helpful for a novice screenwriter like myself. I was thinking of looking for a script consultant soon.

@JenniferRitch - Hey Jennifer: I'm sorry that your question got lost in the thread. I hope that you'll see this since I'm unable to tag you. I know what you mean about jumping from one to another. Don't feel bad about that. It happens. I would encourage you to finish the one you are most passionate about before submitting for a consultation. As you finish it, you can gauge the various executives and see which one is the best fit for your script genre. At the same time, go ahead an reach out to Emily at success@stage32.com and tell them a little bit about what you're working on. I've done that and she's been super helpful in sending executives she thought would suit best. Take your time. We'll be here for you.
