Hi all I joined in 2022 but haven't had time to write much due to some personal loss and a busy schedule. I live in Toronto and work in sales, there is a massive amount of North American film productions here. I know as I sold covid supplies into them during the pandemic. Things have quieted down now on all levels, so I'm hoping to write more. I have many great ideas and I'm a gifted story teller ( I've worked in sales for a decade and traveled the world with this profession) but I find my lack of technical skill and script knowledge always makes me draw a blank and procrastinate when putting it to paper. Any suggestions on decent screen writing software ? That could guide me technically? It's a beauty day in TO , I should start writing. :)

I use Trelby Christopher Butler It's free. I believe Final Draft is the industry standard. But one thing I found is that I write much better drafts with just a blank text file. No formatting. Just my thoughts and dialog. Once I get far enough along, I put that into the software.

Great to meet you, Christopher Butler. Sorry about your personal loss.
I use Final Draft 12 screenwriting program (www.finaldraft.com). It's the best program I've used. It's kinda expensive, but it's one-time purchase. I use WriterDuet as backup. It's fast, easy to use, and it doesn't cost much each month (www.writerduet.com/pricing).

Christopher Butler Hey and welcome~! I have a few free tools that are pro-level, but as someone said above Final Draft is definitely the industry standard (although you def don't NEED it).
Trelby
Celtx
WritersDuet
Dubscript (android)
and Fountain by the screenwriter John August is the most bare-bones, streamlined script writing software available.
