Hi Everyone,
I'm new here and love this possibility to introduce myself.
I have worked all my adult life in business internationally, but have always been writing along the way from young age.
Started to write film scripts in 2010 and have just finished my first full story, an epic 16 x 60’ serialized spiritual sci-fi saga, dealing with the vast difference between the consequences of the human decisions motivated by love, and those motivated by fear.
Now I'm trying to figure out how the industry works, am eager to learn everyday about logline, synopsis, pitching, contests, representation, production, etc., and make some connections with like-minded people, who have the same passion for telling stories and making them come alive.
In the future I'd like to further explore questions of principle in different genres and contexts.
I recently found Stage 32, love the vibe of it and am very grateful and excited to be here.
If anyone feels I can be of assistance in any way, please feel free to reach out to me.

Hi Artur Kovacs , lovely to meet you! Welcome to the community. Be sure to check out the Screenwriting lounge: https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting. You'll also find tons of education here on all the things you listed. Definitely go to the education section and search those keywords. Interacting in the lounges is a great first step; you can build your creative community and get advice, set up script swaps, learn about writers' groups, etc.

Maria Restivo Glassner Absolutely, for me a story has to have several layers. When writing this script, I tried to focus on the following three:
1. Plot and characters provide the surface and must be visually interesting enough to draw attention. Would the majority of the scenes work even if the characters wouldn’t say anything?
2. The characters’ actions and words shall reflect clear opinions based on strong personalities and what they are saying shall make one think deeper as they are all right from their own perspective.
3. All the characters together, if what they are doing and saying is put together like a puzzle, shall give an even deeper meaning, that goes beyond their personal perspectives.

Artur Kovacs that is a very cool method! It's like the 3 commandments of your script writing . I really enjoy pulling from John Truby's "Anatomy of story" methods and one of them has to do with something similar to your number three. You place the main character and 3 other antagonistic characters in four separate quadrants and then place opposing views under them and between them so we can see how each of them fundamentally disagree and why.

Maria Restivo Glassner I didn't know this method but resonates very well with me. I guess it has a similar outcome, the four fundamentally different views sum up to additional meaning. Thanks for sharing this with me, will look into it.
