Hi everyone, just wanted to share a bad apple in the distribution circles. I'm are they are many of them, but definitely beaware of Applied Art Pictures. They used to be called Applied Art Productions. They are based in AZ. We had real bad experience with them. You may want to do your homework prior you even considering them. They also have a festival called Chandler Film Festival which cloakss as a way for the Director/Owner to connect with filmmakers. FYI: His agreements are extremly preditiory. here is their website https://www.beautiful.ai/player/-NbLa546aFM2i-YtMBfI/Theatrical-and-Distribution-Options
Hope the info helps

Armen Dilanchian Hi Armen, I’m so sorry you had this bad experience. I only hope it doesn’t take the joy out of what you’ve made.

Thanks Geoff. It was certainly a lesson learned. All I can sat is.....it is worth having a lawyer to go over agreements. With our first feature, we were in a hurry to release it. :-(

Any distributor that charges filmmakers for services should be avoided.

Thanks for the comment Stephan. I agree. I know the owner of this company is a complete
scam. I'm hoping other filmmakers will see this post and avoid them,

Armen Dilanchian Thanks, Armen. Then I'm happy to have found a great entertainment lawyer in the UK! I hope you can clear up this mess and press on with a bit of hope.

Thanks Jeff! I hoep our next prokect here https://youtu.be/TBqN9he_UKw?si=UXJNVQEeONeLynWT will make up for the first one. I can certainly say we've become much more cautious and savvy about the industry and how we approach distribution companies these days. Although we are happy that the first one we self distributed on TUBI ( https://youtu.be/_sHcfcePPJ0?si=FVq8EzvZavj137ix) and few other network in foreign territories. We didn't do too bad, We'll see what the future holds for our small company!

Another example that diligence must be always done, references should be always sourced and nobody should charge creatives to do the work that producers and prod cos are supposed tone doing. Thanks for the share, Armen Dilanchian!

Armen Dilanchian yes, we get a little more savvy as we progress. They do say we learn more from our failures than our successes!
