Micro-budget question

Hello all, I may be applying for a grant for a micro-budget film. I am not a producer, don't know much about budgeting. Is there any kind of template for this that you know of?

You're likely to need a properly done budget. But if the production is simple, you can create your own with Excel of similar program

Hi Pablo,

There are loads of templates you can find online though some may be overly complex for a micro-budget film as you will likely be consolidating certain roles (I know that's what I've done for smaller budget productions). I assume you need a detailed budget in order to apply for the grant but I would recommend you have someone with budget experience look it over before submitting to ensure you've covered all your bases. People often overlook crucial budget line items like insurance, contingency, and roles like script supervisor and production design. I know that sounds silly, but as someone who's been around budgets/reviewed and consulted on them for the last 15 years, you'd be amazed at what people leave out thinking it's not important.

This is a great area to ask questions about it though and as things pop up while you're working through, please ask and I, or someone else here, will surely provide some guidance.
