Our disappointment with the AMPTP continues as they pursue the same strategy that failed with the WGA. How can they be so naive, or perverse.
Or as the SAG-AFTRA negotiating team put it:
“Instead they use bully tactics. Just tonight, they intentionally misrepresented to the press the cost of the above proposal – overstating it by 60%. They have done the same with A.I., claiming to protect performer consent, but continuing to demand “consent” on the first day of employment for use of a performer’s digital replica for an entire cinematic universe (or any franchise project).
The companies are using the same failed strategy they tried to inflict on the WGA – putting out misleading information in an attempt to fool our members into abandoning our solidarity and putting pressure on our negotiators. But, just like the writers, our members are smarter than that and will not be fooled.”
Why do this? They must realise that it’s a failed strategy?
Thoughts please…

The word, "hubris" comes to mind. And hubris can be as intoxicating as a night doing tequila shots in a redneck biker bar.

Ugh. SMH. This doesn't make any sense. I don't understand why studios are refusing to pay the very people who are required to sell their shows? Actors are usually the reason audiences go to see a movie or watch a particular TV show. I have watched so many terrible shows just because I like the actors in it. How do they plan on making anymore movies or TV shows? The writers' strike being over means nothing if there are NO PERFORMERS. SMH
I think the AMPTP knows it's a failed strategy, Geoff Hall, but they don't have any other strategy to use. The AMPTP should just give the SAG-AFRTRA the right deal and stop dragging this out.

Bill Hartin so that’s where Bob Iger and Ted Sarandos hang out. Now it all makes sense!

Suzanne Bronson it smacks of short-termism. They obviously don’t have any respect for the talent they are slighting. No respect equals no understanding. No understanding equals no deal.

Maurice Vaughan so who is the brains of the outfit? And why with such a low-level intelligence, do they think they are worth their ‘executive compensation’. No wonder the industry is in a mess. It’s time for a sea change!

I've never understood why some execs make so much money, Geoff Hall. They don't do enough work to make those salaries. I think it makes more sense to use some of that money to make and promote movies, shows, etc.

Maurice Vaughan no, but their Corporate egos demand it. A sad state of affairs. All that money and they can’t think of an alternative strategy!

The love of money is the root of all evil. If they only understood the concept of abundance (there's enough for all) there would be no need for greed.
