Another Coverage Report Hot Topic: Inciting Incident

A question that often comes up when doing coverage/reading a script is, "What is the Inciting Incident?". @kross gives the great advice "What is the ending?". The ending will usually tell you based on the resolution, especially on the somewhat ambiguous scripts, but here's another excellent Vlog courtesy of StudioBinder.

Thx for the share, Dustin Quinteros! Always a good reminder to understand how the story kicks into gear.

Inciting Incident - An event/incident that disrupts the protagonist’s world and changes his/her status quo, or throws the character off kilter, setting the main conflict/story into motion.

Can also be defined as an incident that causes turbulence in the protagonist’s life .

Great share, @Dustin Quinteros! I'm gonna try splitting the inciting incident into a setup and payoff (starting at 11:26 of the video). I'll probably test it out with a short script.
