Hello everyone,
I'm new to Stage 32 and seeking advice on festival submissions. I've recently completed my first screenplay, which predominantly revolves around women. It's based on true events from the Middle East. I'm based in Los Angeles and looking for guidance on where to begin with festival submissions. With the multitude of options available, I'd greatly appreciate your suggestions and recommendations.
Thank you

Ask yourself why you want to enter festivals/conpetitions. Is it prestige? Nichols or Austin. Is it networking? Consider one with an in-person event a nearby city and attend. Prize money? You’ll typically spend a lot more than you win, so set a budget. Think about genre, or thematic hooks that your script will fall into. So yours might be good in a competition looking for women-centric stories, or with a middle eastern focus.

I enter contests hoping someone sees the script and is interested.

Dan MaxXx, yes, as I was reading through a few festival breakdowns, I realized that could be a possibility too. I just wanted to put it out there. It's my first time, so I'm really excited. Thank you for the suggestion!
Search Film Freeway for festivals that promote women writers or scripts: ie: Female Eye Film Festival and others.
