Hi! My name is Rick Mendelssohn, and I'm a retired ER physician who has always had a passion for film and TV. When the time came to pivot ( a loud "Pivot!" a la FRIENDS), I dove into the industry with zero background. Dreams of writing a screenplay danced in my head, so I started reading the screenplays of my favorite movies trying to teach myself Screenwriting 101.
Realizing I enjoyed reading, I enrolled in Hollywood Gatekeepers and learned how to write coverage. A few months later, I started reading for the Austin Film Festival. Reading for the Stage 32 OWA group quickly followed. I aspire to read for producers and directors, but I am happy to provide help to those in need. And maybe write that pesky screenplay myself someday.
