Hey everyone! I'm Alyx, a produced and award-winning screenwriter. I just signed a contract to write drama screenplays regularly and am looking for more things to do while also writing my own works. I'm also looking for a new manager if one is quietly cruising through here looking for new talent.
What's everyone's favorite genre to work in?
Also, If you could create a story by combining all your favorite characters from movies, books, shows, etc., what would the title of the story be and why?

What interesting questions, Alyxandrya. Personally I like most genres except horror...guess I'm too easily scared. // As for a combi-film-book mine would include "Apocalypse Now", "Streets of Fire", "Princess Bride", "Tropic Thunder", "Galaxy Quest", characters from Neal Stephenson's "Snow Crash", Marcel Proust's "Remembrance of Things Past", and Laurence Durrell's "Alexandria Quartet". Now I have to follow your challenge and come up with a title...thanks for the prompt to do that. I look forward to seeing others' replies to your challenge. // Wishing you all the best with your creative projects. //

Hey, Alyxandrya Prynce. Congratulations on signing a contract to write Drama screenplays regularly! :D
My favorite genre to work in is Horror, but Thriller and Action are close behind it.
The title of my story would be "Chaos" because there would be characters from different genres teaming up, fighting each other, going on missions, etc. It'd be chaotic.

Hi Alyxandra (my female cousin's name, also),
I'm Marrianne and wanted to connect.
Congratulations on all of your success!
How exciting to have signed a contract to write drama! Regarding your post, I wanted to share I have written a true, dramatic, historical biographical screenplay that received an option offer I wish now I would have accepted and placed in the Quarterfinals of two screenplay competitions, but has yet to be sold or produced. I wanted to ask how you went about selling your first dramatic screenplay and what advice could you give in my quest to sell just one? I would be so grateful for your insight.
Best regards,
Marrianne Rayhill

Thank you, Pamela, for your thorough response! It's fascinating to read about your diverse taste in genres and the eclectic mix of movies, books, and characters you'd include in your story! I'm actually quite eager to see the title you come up with!
Thank you, Maurice, for your kind words! It's funny because I was battling depression for the very first time in my life and it honestly felt like I was drowning. However, I wanted to get out of that state and push beyond anything I'd ever done, and that's exactly what I did. I sat down, determined, and wrote a powerful pitch to a company looking for a writer. I poured every ounce of energy I could muster into it and sent it over. Within the hour, I already had a response for an interview. Things started to fall into place soon after. When it comes to your title, you are spot on! Any mix of characters, especially from different genres, backgrounds, cultures, etc., would be completely chaotic! Thank you for taking the time to respond!
Thank you, Marrianne, for taking the time to read and respond. Taking breaks from my screenplay and returning with fresh eyes was crucial for my success, as was networking with fellow professionals, sharing feedback, and entering competitions for valuable critiques. My bachelor's in creative writing, though challenging, taught me to embrace constructive criticism and understand audience expectations. It's essential to be willing to revise or even set aside projects that aren't working, as scraps can inspire future endeavors. The key is to seek feedback, apply it, and expand your network authentically. Rather than viewing others as stepping stones, focus on building genuine connections within your industry. Research and connect with producers, directors, and production companies aligned with your genre. Get online and see all the places screenwriters should be when it comes to websites and social media. Make sure you're out there. Research others to see how they're presenting themselves and try to do the same. Get yourself out there and get noticed! Additionally, honing skills like pitching, crafting loglines, and storyboarding can bring your vision to life effectively. Best of luck!

Thank you for your feedback and for spelling my name correctly, when I accidentally misspelled yours, forgetting the, "y." Sorry.
Regarding your feedback, may I ask who bought your first dramatic screenplay?
The reason I ask is that I have done much of what you've suggested and have received different feedback from screenwriters, producers, and even a BAFTA nominated producer, who all say my screenplay is good, well written and interesting, but I'm not sure whose feedback to incorporate into my story.
I am thinking of purchasing a Stage 32 offering of a phone call and script review with the co-founder and producer of a company who would be interested in the subject matter of my screenplay. Have you purchased any of the script reviews and phone calls offered by Stage 32 and can I ask your opinion?
Thank you for your insight and I will look forward to your response.
Warmly,
Marrianne Rayhill

Thank you, Alyxandrya. Your question is something we can all take into consideration as we reach out to others with our projects. Best to all with that!

So happy for your success Alyxandrya! You achieved what my dream is because I am at the stage where I need to sell something from my 7 projects I have written and I wouldn't be able to be happier if I would be ask to write on new projects with guaranteed advanced payments. For me that shows the actual need of my talent while giving me the ability to flourish.
I would love to create sitcoms and romantic comedies.
Maybe it can be called all in one universe to save the world or fall in love and of course make a perfect ending? I imagine it being a dumb comedy like Scary movie with Guinness record for the longest title :D

Hello:
Welcome to the platform. A delightful thank you for introducing you and the creative questions you mentioned. Quite thought provoking.
I have fun writing and challenging my thoughts within many genres.
A fun concept would be to create an adventurous tale of all the misfits from movies, like Hoggle from Labyrinth and other films, and create a fantasy realm where all meet, engage in various situations, and welcome a more intertwined world.
Thank you within your path.
God Bless,
John German

You're welcome, Alyxandrya Prynce. Glad you pushed yourself beyond anything you've ever done. Can't wait to see the movies you write. And if you ever feel depressed, let the Stage 32 community know. We'll do what we can to help.

The Stage 32 phone call and script review really helped me rewrite my script, Marrianne Rayhill (www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting/Stage-32-Feature-Script-Read-30-min...).

Hi Maurice...thank you for your advice regarding a script review and phone call with an executive.
Did that interaction lead to your script being sold, optioned or made into a movie?
You're welcome, Marrianne Rayhill. I've gotten a few requests for the script. The latest one was about two weeks ago. The production company is really excited about the script.
