Francis Coppola is in the news with his latest film, MEGALOPOLIS, scheduled to premiere at Cannes. Consequently, I've been thinking about him a lot lately. Below is a glimpse of his process when he worked on THE GODFATHER. One gets a sense of why he is a true master filmmaker. I wonder how his process for MEGALOPOLIS compares to THE GODFATHER. Also, notice behind his head on the bookshelf are the volumes of Edward Gibbons' magnum opus, "The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire." I'll bet reading that at some point years ago factored into Coppola's preparation of MEGALOPOLIS.

Fantastic share, Tucker Teague! That's a really thick notebook! Filmmakers, do you make notebooks for your projects?

The dedication and passion he puts into his work to tell his stories is inspiring. The documentary of his late wife about the journey of making Apocalypse Now tells us a lot about the fire that drives him.
