For anyone who is new to the animation workflow here is a great little break down of the production process looking at the difference between 2D and 3D. With the advancement in AI technology and software in general both methods have seen a lot of changes. I hope this opens up some understand into how things are made.

He should've clarified Traditional animation instead of 2D animation. I have done 2D animation on shows that required no drawing for the animation, and cleanup and color were only used for the models that were rigged, not frame by frame.
