Question for a newbie

Outside of local investors how best is it to find documentary investors?

I don't know if it's still a thing. I know that in the past, for movies, etc., people have used crowdfunding, Kickstart, Indiegogo, etc. I haven't seen anything from these companies in a while, so maybe they're still there, or something new is in their place.
