Hello,
I’m looking for advice or tips on how to find a screenwriting agent. I’ve written a couple of scripts that I believe would make strong spec scripts to showcase my writing abilities (and, of course, they’re genuinely great screenplays as well). I’d like to approach agents to see if my work is up to industry standards, get my scripts in front of producers, and start positioning myself as a screenwriter for hire.
Any advice or personal stories that could help me figure out the best path forward would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Sam Windle

Hi Sam, go after a manager. They're going to be more open to reviewing a script or two, and yes, they can shop your scripts to producers if they sign you. You'll have to do some heavy lifting in creating a list of Lit Managers, and then finding their contact phone, emails. S32 has info on writing query letters. Hopefully Maurice, one of the S32 moderators, can provide a link or two on this.

Hi, Samuel Windle. I agree with Lindbergh about going after a manager. Stage has a webinar called “How To Write A Query Letter That Gets You Past The Gatekeepers” (www.stage32.com/education/products/how-to-write-a-query-letter-that-gets...). Audrey Knox is a literary manager. She really knows about the industry! Thanks, @Lindbergh.

Hat tip to you, Maurice!
I really need to find one myself. Think you could help me out to?

Agents are not the ones you send scripts to in order to see how they stack up or if they are strong enough. they are the ones you send to when you have an arsenal of scripts, a vision for your career, and projects ready to sell. 90% of the time, a writer gets their agent thru their manager. So, would do that first. But you should be getting pro feedback and know from outside sources that your scripts are ready.

Samuel Windle Hi Samuel, here’s a blog article that Phil Hardy and I wrote a while back. I hope you find it helpful.

You've asked "the #1 most-asked question" among screenwriters...which is why we've recently published "Marry an Agent!...or How to Get an Agent Without Even Dating One: The Screenwriter's Guide to Literary Representation" which you can find here: https://tinyurl.com/yc4enyuh
