Hi Everybody!
Happy Introduce Yourself Weekend! My name is Ashley Smith and I’m Head of Community here at Stage 32!
Prior to joining this incredible team, I spent nearly 7 years at a boutique development and talent management company where I was deeply involved with every development project, management client, and administrative aspect of running the company. I oversaw a rich development slate of films, ongoing series, and limited series across genres and developed projects for Amazon, Sony TV, FX, Universal TV, Paramount TV, Legendary Global, MGM, A&E, Concord Originals, and many others.
Here at Stage 32, I’m honored to oversee this fantastic Community. As well as the daily Blog, weekly AMAs, monthly in-person Meetups, and numerous volunteer efforts to make your time here at Stage 32 as helpful and resourceful as possible. It’s always my goal to bring you all exciting resources and information to help you network, connect, and learn more about various disciplines and processes within the entertainment industry. I’d love to know what you all enjoy most about being a part of the Stage 32 community, what you’d like to see more of, the kind of AMAs that you’d like to see in the lounges, and the type of blog topics that you would enjoy!
What are your favorite horror or Halloween movies & series that you're excited to dive into this spooky season? I LOVE The Conjuring, the entire Scream series, The Haunting of Hill House, Practical Magic, IT (every version), Cabin in the Woods, Death Becomes Her, The Craft, ET, and Casper. But every Halloween, I have to watch Hocus Pocus, it's a tradition.
Don’t be a stranger! I look forward to connecting with you all.

Ashley Renee Smith Hi Ashley, it’s the oldies for me; Frankenstein, Dracula, The Hands of Orlac and then a little later X the Unknown (the first Hammer House of Horror film).

Ashley Renee Smith Re: horror movie: This should surprise neither you nor Maurice, but Event Horizon is number one for me (Alien or Covenant close seconds).
Maurice Vaughan I hope you mean the original "The Thing"! I almost fired that up for the umpteenth time the other day.

Ashley Renee Smith I love the classic horror and pretty much anything that starred Vincent Price and Bette Davis. Here are my top horror films, with Bette's "Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte" at the top. https://medium.com/@debbieelicksen/classic-horror-films-you-probably-hav...

John Carpenter's The Thing, Mike Childress. I saw the 2011 version. It was ok, but John Carpenter's version is A LOT better.

Not a surprise, but still great picks, Mike Childress! I'm a big Alien fan myself unsurprisingly! We have a Displate poster of Alien hanging proudly in our living room!

Doctor Sleep is a great one, Bradford Richardson! Especially for a movie night so that you can do a Shining and Doctor Sleep double feature. My friends and I did that last fall and it was a blast!

Oooh, Cujo is a classic that people don't give enough attention to, Jed Power!

I am not a super fan of the horror, simply for the "horror" element only. I need a good story behind it to legitimize the "scare" factor. One of my most fave horror features is an obscure 1999 film by the late director Antonia Byrd titled "Ravenous". In fairness, it falls into several genres not just horror, but I have viewed this flick many times and have enjoyed it every time.

Joanne Malone Ravenous is EXCELLENT! I had forgotten about it until your comment.

Debbie Elicksen loved the Medium article, Debbie. Thanks for sharing. Michael Gough was quite the character actor, with a dark secret of his own, if I remember correctly.

Lylia Hamel, do you prefer the original House of Wax or the remake from 2005?

That would be SO cool, Mike Childress! I'd need a space big enough, but that would be awesome.

I've never seen Ravenous, Joanne Malone. I'll have to add it to my watchlist!

Rutger Oosterhoff, if you add just a few more to the list you could do an October movie line-up and watch one a day until Halloween! You have a whole month to decide on the last few films to add!

Shoot, Ashley, got Alien twice in my list, now I have to start all over again...kidding, just replace it with "Let Me In."
