I came up with an idea for a docu-series and made a treatment and a sample episode. But now I'm at a loss for what to do next. I talked to my producer friends (people just starting out like me) and they said you could either finish making the show but have no one to show the end product to. (And I'd probably spend a lot of my own money in the process.) Or I could find a company to produce it. But my issue is where do I find someone to make my show?
Hi, Nikita Safia. Welcome to the community. I think you should find a company to produce your docu-series. You already have a treatment and a sample episode, which will help you pitch. A poster could help as well. Networking on Stage 32 could lead to opportunities to pitch your series to companies. Here are some blogs on networking: www.stage32.com/blog/tags/networking-41

Hi Nikita! Congratulations on your idea! this might sound like a simple idea, but I would try to find docuseries in the same vein as the idea you have, and seek out those producers. They might be interested on your project. They might know other producers that might be interested. They might have advice at the bare minimum. I was told growing up that all someone could tell you is no, so it’s worth asking. The best way to acquire contact information is IMDbPro. Just make sure to catch their attention when you first reach out. Keep us updated!

Make the show, upload to youtube or whatever internet platform. Just accept there might be zero money returns, or zero rewards/push to your career.
However if you can show strangers you can execute an idea; maybe there's $$ and opportunity for next idea.
This actor dude made his own short and has close to 1M views in a week, supposedly have job offers lined up.

Hi Nikita Safia - Tyler has a great recommendation - find like minded shows that have producers in that vein and go after the producers. I sold a premium unscripted show to USA last year and I did exactly what Tyler recommended. Having the weight of a full production company helped alleviate a lot of hard costs coming out of my pocket. We have a kick ass webinar
