I just watched JOKER 2 last night and was happily surprised that I enjoyed it so much. Perhaps all of the different reviews and opinions had me in the right head space but I thought it was a great film and the performances were astounding. Have you seen the film? If so, what did you think? And do you agree with Kojima that it will look better over time? https://variety.com/2024/film/news/hideo-kojima-praises-joker-2-reaction...

I haven't seen Joker 2, Sam Sokolow, but I'll probably check it out on streaming. I've heard mixed things about the movie. Some people loved it, and some people were disappointed in the direction it went in.

By this logic, "Plan Nine From Outer Space" is about due to be recognized as a masterpiece.
Of course it's possible. Obviously, bad press and reviews plus lack of attendance will be long forgotten. Therefore, the film will be seen in a new light. Just like many flops from the past have been.
"Ishtar" still sucks, though. And probably will into eternity.

Funny, E Langley - Ishtar became a cult classic to a group of friends of mine over time who love Charles Grodin. They quote it every time we're together. Not saying they're right nor am I defending Ishtar but I guess that's why they call it art.

Sam, who can forget:
Telling the truth can be dangerous business/ Honest and popular don't go hand in hand.
A tad hyperbolic in my criticism. "Ishtar" is a fun update of Hope/Crosby Road movies. At 145 minutes, though, it's just too damn long.
May had a similar issue on "A New Leaf." She turned in a 180 minute cut the studio eviscerated to an incomprehensible 102.

It's hard to age with grave when it's not very good to start... I can't see there being a big critical redefinition of it

I think there's a Freudian slip in this post. ^
