28 Years Later: Sony Reveals First Poster For Danny Boyle And Alex Garland’s Horror Sequel
The budget for 28 Days Later was around $8m, but I dare say that Danny Boyle has managed to leverage a higher budget this time around. I’m just hoping that it doesn’t ‘spoil’ the feel of the film, if you know what I mean.
Anyway, here’s the first look at the poster. Enjoy.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing 28 Years Later, Geoff Hall! The first two movies are incredible! Danny Boyle is a phenomenal director! Creative/creepy poster.

The world has changed a lot since the first instalment in this series appeared over two decades ago. Will the premise of an immediately symptomatic virus still be acceptable? Is there any appetite for a pandemic-themed movie? Will this film be labelled as "virusploitation"?

Alex Garland's best box-office performance as a screenwriter was Civil War, which grossed $126 mil from a budget of $50 mil. Unless he's learned any lessons from the failure of Annihilation, I wouldn't expect boffo box-office from this one.

I haven’t seen the OG, will have to check that out.
The first one has a cheesy zombie/horror charm to it for those who like that kind of thing. The second one lacks that same charm and without it has trouble convincing viewers to overlook the mess of a plot. It does though offer Rose Byrne as consolation.

First film was amazing. Fantastic pacing and storytelling. I think some of that charm was lost in the second one. Either way, I'll watch the third.

The original is a great film, Xochi Blymyer! You should definitely give it a watch. The sequel is good as well and I have positive hopes for this new one.

Richard Buzzell yes, Richard I also looked at his box office and thought that it wasn’t that impressive, but I’d be happy with those kind of returns for my films!
Someone somewhere, must like him, as they keep putting their faith in him. I think his breakthrough was Ex Machina. A24 did a great job in promoting that film and had an excellent distribution and exhibition strategy.

28 Days Later remains my favorite zombie film. But I think part of what made it amazing is what made its sequel, and potentially 28 Years Later, not as good.
In the original film, the main characters were played by actors that were largely unknown. Cillian Murphy and Naomie Harris had done some film acting but weren't known on the scale that they are now. Hell, the two biggest names in 28 Days Later don't even show up until halfway and 3/4 of the way through the film. And it was that decision that made it special: it felt like these were real people going through all of this. Even when Brendan Gleeson and Christopher Eccleston are finally shown to the audience, we're so into the story that it doesn't even register that they're bigger stars than the protagonists.
28 Weeks Later didn't have that. And while I only saw 2 (and potentially a third with that zombie) actors that I instantly recognized, it was enough to break the spell.
I wouldn't mind going to see 28 Years Later in theaters, but I'm not holding my breath about it being anywhere near what the original was. It looks good either way.

Oh, and the use of Rudyard Kipling's poem "Boots" was REALLY well done.

Im seeing for the cinematography. The filmmakers chose using an Iphone than a standard digital camera like an Arri with Zeiss lenses.
