Screenwriting : Escape into the past by Anna Marton Henry

Anna Marton Henry

Escape into the past

It is so surreal living in Los Angeles this past week. I am safe (well, I think I am safe!), but I have friends and colleagues who have lost their homes. I am also heartbroken over the loss of several historical places in LA (yes, we have some), like the Zane Grey Estate in Altadena. There is a story to that place... I wonder if someone ever wrote it. My escape is working on the projects I am producing, which take me to times and places where... ok, far worse things are happening, but on the screen not in real life! I love working on historical fiction / period projects in particular, because they take me into other worlds and let me step into other lives. If you are writing in that genre, I am also preparing for another lab starting in just a few weeks: https://www.stage32.com/education/products/stage-32-8-part-screenwriting-lab-write-a-historical-tv-pilot-script

Stay safe everyone!

I'm glad you're safe, Anna Marton Henry! Sorry to hear your friends and colleagues lost their homes and the historical places were lost. I hope you and everyone stays safe!

Debra Holland

I knew of the loss of the Will Rogers estate, but I didn't even know there was a Zane Grey estate. I would have loved to visit. We're mourning the loss of too many historical structures.
