My high concept scripts generally feature dynamic women protagonists, often torn from the pages of history and reimagined; as a poet, my interest in language fuels my stories, energies my characters and invigorates the dialogue. My slate of scripts, novels, short stories and poetry leans back through a writing journey fuelled by the extraordinary events of a dramatic life well-lived; from the drug smuggling of my ex's early years to the moment I was offered witness protection and a new life (which I refused) to more sedate years of reflection and memoir. I spent four years in a boatyard rebuilding a 1955 Navy Utility boat into a motor yacht; this journey is memorialised in my book and script, Raising The Ruby Tuesday( not yet published but ready). I eventually sued Port San Luis after my boat ended up on the shoreline after a storm (long story here). My books and poetry collections are available on Amazon, and my current work in progress is a spec script I have been forced into writing (after promising myself NO MORE SPECS) as the idea is so damn good. A few years back I had great interest in my script Watertown, set in the Owen's Valley during the Water Wars of the early 1900s, but I opted out as something felt "off" with the Producer. I breathe, I write, I endure. marlenaevangeline.com

It's great to meet you Marlena! It's wonderful to have you in the Stage 32 community. What a fascinating story, wow! Not sure if you saw, but we have our world class Female Driven Screenwriting Contest open for submissions right now, think your script would be a great candidate: https://www.stage32.com/happy-writers/contests/4th-Annual-Female-Driven-...

Oh wow Marlena Evangeline. I love your script ideas. We need way more female driven stories and female badassery in film. Your background is certainly a story, too, or at the very least, a great setting.

Thanks girls! What is the extended deadline for the Chick flick contest? Is it the 26th or is there a later one.
