Screenwriting : The pitch deck and pilot of my TV series are ready, now what? by Marco De Vidi

The pitch deck and pilot of my TV series are ready, now what?

Hi everyone,

I am looking for advices. I've been working on writing my first sports-themed TV series for months.

I'm finishing the pitch deck, I've written the script for the pilot, the rest of the series is already written. And I also have two potential follow-up seasons ready.

Now what would you recommend? Contact production companies? Looking for an agent? Legally register my idea to protect myself?

Maybe are there some producers interested in the project here on Stage32?

Thank you so much for any advice you'll give me.

Hi, Marco De Vidi. I suggest making a series bible if you haven’t already. A pitch deck can help you pitch your series, but usually producers/etc. want to see just a pilot or a pilot and a series bible. The pitch deck is an extra pitch tool.

If you want to make a series bible, here's a blog I suggest reading (www.stage32.com/blog/tv-series-bibles-that-every-television-writer-shoul...). The blog also has resources that can help you make a series bible.

I suggest registering your pilot with the U.S. Copyright Office. Some writers also register the series bible too. Some writers only register their pilots with the U.S. Copyright Office, and some register the pilots and the series bibles. I've only registered the pilots, but I plan on registering the pilots and series bibles when I come up with more shows. The Copyright Office offers group registration. I think that's what you need to use to register a pilot and series bible together, but I'm not 100% sure. Someone else on here might know, or you could contact the Copyright Office to be 100% sure. www.copyright.gov

You could post your pilot and pitch deck on your profile. Producers search profiles on here for projects. You have to make separate posts for your pilot and pitch deck though since you can only attach one file at a time. Click the gear symbol in the top right-hand corner and select “Edit profile” in the drop-down menu. Scroll down to “Loglines” and click “Add/edit loglines” to the right of “Loglines.” You can also post your pilot and pitch deck on your profile this way: www.stage32.com/loglines (near the top where it says “Add a Logline”)

Thank you so much Maurice for your good advices. I'll work on the bible and post at least the pitch deck here. Let's see!

You're welcome, Marco De Vidi. Ok, great. Keep the community posted in the Your Stage Lounge.

I asked a similar question a few days ago so I can tell we're on the same page. From what I've learned, you should have a story bible and a pilot script (I'm not even a screenwriter, I'm a story developer), register them (I don't know if you have the money for it) and show them to some producers. Don't show everything, just the logline and a few other things
