New Creative here, looking to connect

Hello, my name is Frank and I am 4th year student from UC Irvine studying political science and international studies with an interest in media. I have aspirations on being a producer, writer, or even a director and I have experience from my various projects over the years.

I have written numerous short stories, screenplays, poetry, songwriting on a variety of genres ranging from pulp science fiction to political satire. Some of which, got published in a few literary journals. I have created and produced a few radio dramas at my local college radio station where I also written, directed, and even voiced the characters involved. I was also the executive director of a student-made romantic comedy short film.

Currently, I am involved in content creation where I make videos on TikTok while drafting screenplays on potential projects I would like to pitch to anyone interested. I have drafted a few show ideas, one of which is an adaptation of an old radio show I just did that an anthology series about an inter-dimensional human alien and his adventures across the multiverse in the style of old 1960s sci-fi shows.

I am based in San Diego but I am interested in reaching out to anyone in LA or in the SoCal region. In my spare time, I enjoy reading science fiction, horror, surrealist works, and old comics. I am interested in Star Wars and Marvel though I have watched a variety of films, shows, and online content that are old, new, experimental, and mainstream from different genres that has influenced my work over the years. Though I personally have developed a love of the A24 style and would love to work for them one day. Looking forward to connecting with you guys!

Hi Frank Granda, I’m Ashley, the Head of Community here at Stage 32 — welcome!

It’s clear you’ve already been putting in some serious work across creative disciplines, and that blend of writing, directing, producing, and content creation gives you a strong foundation to build from. Your radio dramas and short film work sound awesome, and I love your passion for sci-fi.

One of the biggest things I always like to emphasize, especially to members based in SoCal — is the importance of building a global network, not just a local one. Stage 32 connects creatives from all over the world, and some of the most exciting collaborations and opportunities can come from those international connections. Whether you’re pitching, producing, or trying to bring a unique story to life, the more you grow your network and think globally, the stronger your position becomes.

A great way to start is by spending time in the Stage 32 Lounges. You’ll find filmmakers, producers, and writers at every level talking shop, giving advice, and even collaborating on projects. I’d suggest jumping into the Screenwriting, Producing, and Filmmaking Lounges to share what you’re working on and start connecting: https://www.stage32.com/lounge

Also, since you’re still expanding your knowledge of the business, check out Stage 32 Education. We have classes taught by industry pros from A24, HBO, Netflix, and more. It’s an excellent way to fill in any knowledge gaps in screenwriting, pitching, development, or producing with real-world insights: https://www.stage32.com/education

Don’t hesitate to reach out if you ever want help navigating the platform!
