Introduce Yourself : Wrestling with emotions - mental health movie by Jack Harrop

Jack Harrop

Wrestling with emotions - mental health movie

Hi everyone, I’m Jack Harrop — writer, first-time filmmaker, and pro wrestler.

I’ve got no formal film background. No big connections. Just a story that’s lived in me for years, and now I’m finally bringing it to life.

My debut film is called Wrestling With Emotions — a raw, British coming-of-age drama about a 16-year-old boy named Jay.

He’s quiet. Bullied. Dealing with depression, anxiety, and feeling like the world doesn’t even notice he exists.

But everything changes when he steps into an old wrestling gym.

He’s not chasing fame — he’s trying to survive.

Through pain, structure, and unexpected connection, Jay starts to find strength. Not in winning… but in being seen.

As someone who’s lived this and found purpose through wrestling myself, this story is incredibly personal.

I’m now trying to build a team of people who believe in emotional, grounded storytelling — especially projects that speak to mental health, resilience, and identity.

If this connects with you — as a filmmaker, editor, DOP, or just someone who cares about powerful stories — I’d love to chat.

Let’s make something real
