ASH TO IRON
– A Gritty Western With Heart, Blood, and Legacy
By Dave Wilson
“I raised her better than I ever was. Gave her sun on her face and a gun in her hand. But I also gave her a lie.”
Set in the swamps and backroads of the American South in the early 1900s, Ash to Iron is a gritty revenge-driven Western, told entirely through journal entries that give it a raw, intimate, and emotional tone.
At its core, this is the story of Maeve Kendrick, a girl raised by a man who stole her from the ashes of her real family. Believing her adoptive father Silas was a hero, Maeve grows into a sharpshooting, fiercely loyal young woman—until she learns the truth. Her real father, Thorne Vale, is alive… and he’s the kind of outlaw she was raised to hunt.
As Maeve rides out to avenge a life of lies, she’s caught between two legacies—the violent truth of her bloodline, and the false honor of the man who raised her.
What follows is a blood-soaked, emotionally rich tale of betrayal, identity, and brutal justice, with echoes of Unforgiven, The Revenant, and True Grit—but told with a fresh, character-driven voice.
