Hi everyone!
I’m Muhammad Abed Baryal, a filmmaker, editor, director, and actor based in Kabul. I’ve been involved in cinema since I was 10, acting in feature films and later working on cinematography and editing alongside my father.
I’ve directed short films like The Book Seller’s Daughter and Behind the Door, and edited various artistic and documentary projects. My editing work has received festival selections and awards.
I love stories with strong visuals and psychological depth, and take inspiration from filmmakers like Hitchcock, Kubrick, Fincher, Lynch, and Kiarostami. I’m here to meet other creatives, share experiences, and explore collaboration opportunities.

Congratulations on directing The Book Seller’s Daughter and Behind the Door and all your accomplishments! Getting involved in cinema at 10 is impressive! I was drawing back then. I eventually stopped drawing and started writing.

Thank you very much Maurice Vaughan I’m currently working on a new screenplay that I’ve already rewritten several times.
