Screenwriting : That Strange In-Between Phase by Philipp Müller

That Strange In-Between Phase

I’m in a weird stage right now — I’ve done everything. I refined my story, built my bible and lookbook, and I have one more pitch lined up this month. But now it’s oddly silent.

I’ve started a new project, but I keep circling back. It feels like this part of the process is a lot of waiting and uncertainty. My first pitch actually went fairly well — she told me I definitely have more questions coming my way and would be sending them over. So now it’s just… waiting.

I’ll upload the refined version of my pilot later on, but I wonder: what do you all do in this phase?

For me, it’s all still very new — I’m only just starting out in this industry, and without any rep yet, the waiting feels even longer. But I want to keep moving forward.

Curious to hear your thoughts.

Congratulations on your first pitch going fairly well, Philipp Müller! I work on another project(s), network, watch webinars about screenwriting and other areas of the industry, etc. while I wait to hear back about a pitch, job, etc.

Yes, waiting is a big part of the process and it doesn't get any shorter. Just wait and write while you can. From experience I'll take time off from a project when it gets to that point. Write something else and give myself some space. It helps when I go back to look at it fresh and possibly pick up things I missed the first time. Good luck.
