Screenwriting : An example of how my characters are born and how stories find me instead of me chasing them. by Daniel Danitto

An example of how my characters are born and how stories find me instead of me chasing them.

Last night, while driving through the city, a ginger cat crossed my path. I slowed down to save it, and in that moment I joked to myself: “This cat is a kamikaze.”

That thought gave me an interesting name, which immediately sounded like the title of a cult 80s action hero.

The name started demanding a story of its own, but for now I will keep it to myself.

I wrapped the character in an absurd aura, created a few supporting characters, and already have the foundation for a fun story that might turn into something bigger.

That's great, Daniel Danitto. I come up with characters and script ideas by observing people, animals, and things. Sometimes I misread a post on social media and get an idea.

Maurice Vaughan Seems we have a very similar creative process, everyday moments often spark the best characters and stories.
