Last week, I reached my goal of finishing a manager query letter. It took some time to find the right tone — one that felt authentic yet professional — but I’m good with where it landed.
This week’s challenge is to build a list of managers I’ll be sending those queries to. It feels like the next big step forward.
Qualities that I Look For in a Collaborator
I love being part of a team - especially one where the parts are a good fit. I picture someone whose strengths balance my weaknesses — someone honest, grounded, and passionate about story. I’m not looking for ego; I’m looking for trust - both ways. Professionalism, yes. Friendship, yes.
Collaboration, to me, is about preserving the heart of the work while being open to sharpening it. My role in that is to meet deadlines, communicate clearly, and give as much as I can on my end to make the project stronger.

Congratulations on reaching your goal last week, Leonardo Ramirez 2! I like the graphic!
"Collaboration, to me, is about preserving the heart of the work while being open to sharpening it." That's one of the things that made collaborations work for me. And sometimes something out of your control happens and the writers, producers, etc. collaborating need to pivot.
I'm rooting for you to reach your goal this week and get a manager!

Good job on meeting your goals!
I love your outlook on collaboration. Trust, professionalism, friendship. I hope we all get lucky enough to find that in our efforts.

Leonardo Ramirez 2 Query letters are still stick for me, so congrats for you for this achievement! I have to face them once more, when the time comes, did you use anything as a reference? And, from your collaborator dings, yes to all, yes yes, and, keeping the integrity of the work, and teamwork, absolutely. It's all pretty simple : )

You're right Maurice Vaughan - we have to be open to those pivots and not panic. Those can be a good thing.

Me too Elle Bolan - I think it'd be nice to have a manager that includes the friendship aspect.

Hey Juliana Philippi - I used a course that I had taken a while back by a former literary manager, Audrey Knox. She supplied a guidebook for queries that helped tremendously. If you shoot me a DM, I'd be happy to send it to you.
