Is it worth exploring?

Hello everyone,

Just about an hour ago I stumbled onto an idea for a kind of Sherlock Holmes adaptation. “Kind of,” because it doesn’t revolve around Sherlock and Watson themselves, but their children. Sure, the classic duo appear, but not as the main characters.

In this timeline, Sherlock has a son who follows in his footsteps, and Watson has a daughter who's a nurse. Together, they form the new duo. It just felt right to me. And those would be my original characters, by the way. I’ve also set it in the interwar period.

As for the mystery to solve, I decided to set it outside of London, so I dug into real‑world mysteries of one British city. Don’t want to specify which one yet, but here is the vibe I'm going for: the town hall supposedly haunted by the ghost of a well-known author, and a secret web of tunnels under the city. My thought was: how could I connect the two and still make it a Sherlock story? That’s where the idea of a drug spread through gas came in — it makes people see what they expect to see. That’s why they think they’re seeing the author’s ghost. The tunnels? They’re used by an organized crime group to spread the drug and move unseen.

So why am I posting this? Because I want to ask: is this premise worth turning into a script? I know not everyone here is deep into Sherlock lore, but I’d love to hear your take. Would you watch something like this, or am I overthinking?

Cheers.

Maurice Vaughan

I really like the idea, Bartosz Wójt! I think it's worth turning into a script. I think using the tunnels is a great idea! I'd definitely watch it!
