Hi everyone, I’m developing a feature film based on my grandfather’s 1934 journal, written after the death of his infant son. The entries begin with the line: “This journal will describe how the days go after the death of our baby.” It’s a quiet, emotionally grounded story about grief, resilience, and love during the Great Depression in Brooklyn.
I’ve written a 1–2 page story summary and am looking for a screenwriter or consultant who resonates with character-driven, historically grounded stories — something in the tone of Brooklyn, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, or The Notebook. The journal is a real family artifact, and I’m committed to honoring its emotional truth.
If this sounds like your kind of project, I’d love to connect and share more.
Thanks so much, Laura
