I have 45 years of experience in all areas of professional theater, including production, design, stage management. I acted in two regional premieres: Alan Ayckbourn's RELATIVELY SPEAKING (Southeast) and Ronald Millar's ABELARD & HELOISE (Midwest) and have written books & lyrics for THAT JONES BOY!, adapted from Henry Fielding's classic 18th century novel, "Tom Jones," and EKATERINA, based on the secret diaries of Catherine the Great.
Hi, Robert D. Carver. Happy Holidays! 45 years in all areas of professional theater is really impressive! Congratulations! Have you ever done a holiday play?

There may be clips on YouTube from the 1960s film which starred Katharine Hepburn and Peter O'Toole, later remade for TV with Glenn Close and Patrick Stewart, adapted from the stage play by James Goldman.
Thanks, Robert D. Carver. I'll check them out. Do you have any tips for new playwrights?

There is a video of a community theater production on YouTube, which I just discovered. I would advise that they write the play that they want to write, answering the questions: who, what, when, where, why and how, with a strong beginning, middle and end. And if writing about real people, historical characters, stick to the facts.
Thanks, Robert D. Carver. I'll look for the video. I've been thinking about writing plays. Thanks for the tips.
