From Lurker To Lounge

Hi all!

I'm a screenwriter with lofty goals of creating scripts that read as if John Hughes, Nora Ephron, and Diablo Cody had a demon baby. I love seeing how supportive the community here is and want to contribute positively to this space.

Thanks!

Maurice Vaughan

Hi, Emerald Johnson! It's great to meet you. Glad you decided to introduce yourself! I was a lurker on here too. My experience has been like night and day since I started being more active.

"...creating scripts that read as if John Hughes, Nora Ephron, and Diablo Cody had a demon baby." That's interesting! Like Horror Dramedies?

Emerald Johnson

Thanks for responding! Unhinged leading female dramedies for now. I'll eventually morph that into horror!

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Emerald Johnson. I mainly write Horror and Action scripts. If you ever want any tips on writing Horror, let me know.

Ruby Con

Hi Smaragd and Maurice, I'm writing in English now so it's easier to understand. I'm looking forward to meeting like-minded people! And Maurice, my name is Ruby Con; without the "GmbH" (limited liability company), that was added by the translator, but it has nothing to do with me.

Hi, Ruby Con. Thanks for translating your comment to English. Stage 32's next Community Open House is tomorrow the 28th. It'll help you make connections. Producers, directors, executives, writers, and more. It's free to sign up. You can find out more in this blog: www.stage32.com/blog/whether-youre-new-or-a-longtime-member-the-stage-32...

Even if you can’t make it to the Open House live, sign up and you’ll get the recording in your Stage 32 Education Library when it’s available.

You could post your scripts on your profile. Producers search profiles for projects. That and networking are how I sold four short scripts to a producer. Click the gear symbol in the top right-hand corner and select “Edit profile” in the drop-down menu. Scroll down to “Loglines” and click “Add/edit loglines” to the right of “Loglines.” You can also post your scripts on your profile this way: www.stage32.com/loglines (near the top where it says “Add a Logline”)

Hi Emerald, welcome out of lurk mode! That John Hughes / Nora Ephron / Diablo Cody with a demonic twist pitch is fantastic—great way to set expectations and voice.

Glad to have you here, and it’s awesome to hear you want to contribute to the community. Looking forward to seeing your work and your takes around the Lounge.

Ruby Con

Hi Maurice,

Thank you so much for the valuable information. I've uploaded my five scripts to Loglines for now. I'll register with the stage-32 community later, when I have time.

Regards, Ruby Con

Maurice Vaughan
