Introduce Yourself : What happens if we can’t forget a film’s music? by Mahdi Zamani

Mahdi Zamani

What happens if we can’t forget a film’s music?

Hey Everyone,

My Name is Mahdi and I'm an award-winning film composer & sound designer, graduated in sound engineering field.

I’m currently in the final stages of a featured film called "Amusement Park", which is being prepared for the Cannes Film Festival, and I’m also working on a video game titled "Firva Strings of Fate" for PC. I have also worked as a festival composer for events such as the Abbas Kiarostami International Film Festival and the Nahal International Short Film Festival.

My main field of expertise is electronic music infused with elements of folk music. In many of my film projects, I compose the music using instruments that I have personally designed and built. My musical atmosphere is usually poetic, with memorable motifs.

These are just two samples of my scores on two films (There are more samples on my wall) :

I’m interested in meaningful conversations and collaborative work.

Looking forward to new connections

Hi Mahdi Zamani, welcome! I’m Ashley, Head of Community here at Stage 32, and it’s wonderful to have you here.

First of all, congratulations on Amusement Park heading toward Cannes and on your work in the gaming space. I’d strongly encourage you to be a regular participant in both the Composing Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/composing) and the Post-Production Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/post_production). Your background in both composition and sound design gives you a unique bridge perspective that many filmmakers truly need.

In fact, we’re currently having a great conversation in the Post-Production Lounge about how to judge sound in films, and I know you’d provide some incredible insight into that discussion:

Your perspective on memorable motifs and emotional resonance would add real depth to that thread.

I’d also love to invite you to tomorrow’s FREE Community Open House, where I’ll walk through how to navigate Stage 32 strategically, build meaningful connections, and utilize the tools here to support collaborations:

Mahdi Zamani Congratulations Mahdi! And welcome to Stage 32. I love how you describe your work, and I for one always have the music, the sounds and the life of the music from my favorite films and television always with me. In fact, it is at times, the music, that is the doorway through which my soul and heart first enter the story. The energy, the vibration...because we all, are, energy...and music, is the actual art of energy frequency.

Mahdi Zamani

Thank you dear Leonardo Ramirez for your kind words!

Mahdi Zamani

Elle Bolan

Hi Mahdi! Good to see you again! And so glad you took a moment to introduce yourself during IYW.

Music guides the soul in the journey of the film. A lot of times, the music moves me before the scene does. That's the power of the one universal language (music).

Meriem Bouziani
