This feels very familiar to me. Lately, I too am consciously forcing myself to fully immerse myself in the genre before offering any commentary. As a writer, I particularly value tone, restraint, and... (the sentence is incomplete and unclear in the original Turkish text).

What has struck me most lately is this: truly working thrillers rely more on emotional risk than on spectacle. The tension arises from the human decisions flawed characters make under pressure.

I'm also transforming my own writing towards simpler plots, moral gray areas, and forward-thinking mystery rooted in character. Less noise, more intention.

I'm curious: In recent thrillers that have truly worked, what do you think is the most critical craft choice that most writers still underestimate?
